The team leader will work to support all relational database systems including Oracle, MySQL and MS SQL Server focusing on tasks related to building a productive team empowered to execute on a vast and dynamic database inventory.
As a member of the leadership team, the candidate will provide onsite guidance and remote support to our team of technical engineers assigned to maintain and secure our mission critical database technologies.
Candidate must be a self-starter and demonstrate experience leading and managing projects to completion. The ability to adapt to a dynamic environment comprisinga high degree of complexities and priorities is a must
-Administer and manage a large inventory of relational databases (Oracle, MySQL and SQL Server) across all environments (production, UAT, development, disaster recovery).
-Work with Linux and Windows system administrators, network, and storage teams. The candidate will also work closely with the Applications DevOps Support teams to assist and resolve issues pertaining to project deliverables.
-Detailed hands-on execution of all tasks related to production support, backup and recovery, database upgrade and migration, performance tuning, replication configuration and disaster recovery.
-Be knowledgeable with new versions of database software as they are available. Perform performance, scalability, availability, programmability comparisons with the existing version.
-Provides a strategic level of technical leadership to the database support group resolving service requests, planned change requests as well as incident management and RCA.
Desired Skills and Experience
-Must have experience managing large teams with Oracle, MySQL and SQL Server database expertise in a production-ready capacity, preferably supporting the telecommunications industry.
-Ability to work well under pressure.
-Conducted proactive performance, capacity and availability audits. Identify opportunities and implement solutions to enhance existing database systems and infrastructure. Able to create and execute on an action plan.
-Experience enforcing and supporting database security protocol.
-Proven track record as a manager or team lead working across shifts.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Time management skills are a must
-Strict adherence to building and enforcing SLA metrics and reporting.
Educational & Professional Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering
-Agile / Scrum experience is a plus
-SQL Server certification is a plus
Oracle certification is a plus
