DUTIES: Provide technical leadership within teams responsible for testing new features and regression functionalities of Search/Recommendation REST APIs that provide high quality content discovery services to Comcast X1 customers, including leading functional and performance testing efforts of REST APIs and measuring the performance of the of REST APIs with every release; serve as a search engine SME (Subject Matter Expert), including analyzing and testing specialized search engine software used by all Comcast customers; work closely with Comcast Engineering Management and product teams to understand new requirements and designs and come up with test strategies to evaluate the software quality of the Search and Discovery software system; lead QA teams in creating test plans and strategies to identify scenarios for testing search APIs, including participating in grooming and requirements analysis sessions; review and verify requirements and design specifications for validity in overall product design, with an emphasis toward product testability and verification; contribute to the development of quality assurance test philosophies and methodologies, including Agile methodologies, throughout the software quality assurance lifecycle; utilize Fitnesse, Java, Apache Lucene, and Apache Solr to perform automated testing of search engines; utilize Unix, Apache Tomcat, Docker, Redis, and Ansible to perform highly scalable system deployments; utilize the Couchbase and MongoDB NoSQL databases, as well as the Jmeter testing tool, to identify viable test strategies that support testing product functionality; utilize defect tracking systems to keep track of reported issues and bugs; troubleshoot and monitor production systems serving millions of queries per day using Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk; ensure proper execution of regression test procedures and automated test suites and scripts; provide adequate test coverage and QA metrics to key stake holders in order to evaluate software quality; reduce the number of defect leaks at the production stage, including ensuring that all X1-requested search features meet product criteria and have no defects upon release to the client; help production operations team with deployment, monitoring, impact analysis, and troubleshooting software application issues in the production environment; participate in daily Scrum meetings, providing QA status reports, defect reports, and test case reports; review search API performance test results and regression test reports completed by junior QA team members; manage, mentor, and directly supervise subordinate engineers on software quality assurance teams; and pitch in as an individual contributor in times of tight deadlines and production releases.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, and seven (7) years of experience in software quality assurance, including the quality assurance lifecycle; performing automated testing of search engines using Fitnesse, Java, and Apache Lucene/Solr; utilizing Agile methodologies; working with defect tracking systems; and status reporting, of which three (3) years must include experience with highly scalable system deployments using Unix, Apache Tomcat, Docker, Redis and Ansible; and managing and mentoring software quality assurance teams, and of which two (2) years must include experience with the Couchbase or MongoDB NoSQL databases; and troubleshooting and monitoring production systems serving millions of queries per day using Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk.
