Consultant, Data Analytics Comcast Assurance & Advisory Team

With offices in Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY, Los Angeles, CA and Denver, CO, Comcast's Assurance and Advisory Team (CAAT) is a partner to Comcast's individual businesses, including Comcast Cable, NBCUniversal, Comcast-Spectacor, and all corporate functions. CAAT independently helps these groups assess risk and improve the effectiveness of their business, financial and technology processes and internal controls. This involves assessing the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls and processes, the efficiency of operations, and compliance with laws and regulations, including deterring and investigating fraud. The CAAT Data Analytics Team is responsible for providing ad hoc reporting, proactive monitoring metrics (dashboards) and analyses to CAAT teams and business executives. As a member of the Data Analytics Team, the Consultant brings knowledge of Comcast/NBCU technical operations, billing, subscriber, product, work order and financial data entities. The Consultant will assist in developing and analyzing recurring business metrics to identify risks and anomalies in financial and operational business processes. The Consultant supports audit and advisory engagements with internal clients, providing skills in data analytical tools and techniques. The Consultant drives best practices relative to analytical/reporting tools and approach, creates value for the business by focusing on key risks and provides innovative insights and cost-effective solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to adapt and respond to changes in workload and/or scope by modifying their plans and actions accordingly. The Consultant will exhibit the highest degree of trust and integrity by continually leading and upholding the principles of professional standards. The candidate is required to demonstrate professional curiosity, an aptitude to learn new skill sets and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Core Responsibilities:

-Responsible for working independently in a fast paced environment to develop data analytics and ad hoc reporting for audits and business integrity investigations with a strong focus on proactive monitoring and dash boarding.

-Acts as an internal consultant to CAAT audit and advisory tams, providing expert knowledge of company systems, process and associated data to include area such as Human Resources, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Billing, subscriber information, technical operations, and other related finance and/or product information.

-Gathers and documents business and functional requirements, designs and develops reports, dashboards and ad hoc analyses using databases, business intelligence tools and desktop analysis tools.

-Conveys analysis techniques, logic and findings persuasively and confidently in meetings with local, Division, Corporate, and CAAT management.

-Applies business intelligence and problem-solving methods using data analysis to identify business issues.

-Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement to data methodology, tools and training.

-Actively participates in Comcast and other external community activities / service.

-Pursues continuous professional development through training, certifications and education.

-Examines records, documents, methods, policies, costs, and other factors to determine if functional areas are conducting operations in accordance with established guidelines, policies, procedures, and governmental and legal requirements.

-Works with broad discretion regarding work details on assignments of a varied and difficult nature.

-Prepares clear and well-organized audit work papers that appropriately document the work performed. Writes clear meaningful audit comments, investigation summaries, and recommendations.

-Applies appropriate audit procedures to the areas reviewed to ensure that key controls are tested and all significant risks are addressed.

-Formulates appropriate conclusions regarding the adequacy of internal controls and procedures based on the work performed and knowledge of other operations in the Company.

-Makes recommendations regarding corrective action and reviews audit findings with Managers.

-Verifies adherence to company guidelines, policies, procedures and governmental and legal requirements.

-Assists higher level Auditors in a variety of audit functions.

-Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

-Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

-Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Educational, experience, and skill requirements :

-Prior Comcast experience and knowledge in reporting for any of the Comcast/NBCU business entities is highly valued.

-Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other related field with solid academic credentials.

-Minimum of 2-4 years experience in business intelligence, management/operational reporting and/or data analytics required.

-Generally requires 2-5 years related experience.

-Skilled in data analysis tools and techniques including relational database design, data extraction and transformation, reporting and dashboard development including, but not limited to SQL programming, MS SQL Server development, business intelligence environments such as Oracle Business Intelligence, Cognos, etc., as well as MS Excel, MS Access and ACL (Audit Command Language).

-Ability to create graphical reports and executive presentations that summarize insights and recommendations to management.

-Strong analytical skills including the ability to assess business risks on a real-time basis.

-Strong project execution skills including prioritizing tasks, balancing workload between multiple projects, anticipating next steps, adapting to changing situations and project scope.

-Strong interpersonal skills required, including written and verbal communications, willingness to assist where necessary, and commitment to self-improvement.

-Ability to travel up to 25% annually.

-Professional certification is a plus (e.g., CPA, CISA, PMP and CIA)
