FreeWheel is hiring a Lead Systems Engineer based in our New York office who will report to the Manager of Global Systems. The ideal candidate will be part of the team responsible for supporting our 24x7 Global Video Ad Serving platform and corporate infrastructure (with POPs and offices in the U.S, Europe and China). He/She must be self-motivated and reliable and take on responsibilities around workflow automation and new technology evaluation.
Support production environment and corporate infrastructure across AWS accounts and data centers in US, EU and China.
Administer 50 AWS accounts and 2500 Linux (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu) servers.
Administer SAN/NAS storage underpinning Private Cloud and application platforms.
Perform general diagnostics and handle escalations from SRE, Engineering teams.
Collaborate with SRE, Engineering teams on implementation of best practices.
Coordinate activities with team members across global locations in US, EU, and China.
Travel required up to 20% of the time to domestic and international locations.
Have 10 years of work experience with a minimum of 5 years administering Linux systems
Proficiency with AWS compute, storage, networking, and management products
Proficiency in automating simple tasks with shell/Perl scripts
Proficiency in automating complex workflows using automation/orchestration tools such as Chef, Puppet, Cobbler, Saltstack
Experience with Private Cloud platforms, OpenStack and KVM preferred.
Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with Cloud orchestration tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform is a plus
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
Familiarity with binary repositories such as Yum, Artifactory
Proficiency in kernel optimization, OS security, and capacity planning
Knowledge in monitoring/visualization tools such as Nagios, Grafana, ELK, Splunk
Experience with SAN/NAS technologies; Netapp, 3Par, Pure Storage preferred.
Experience with HPE Proliant server lines are preferred.
Must be flexible to take part in all systems team activity (i.e. data center work and on-call).
B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
